Woman Starts Her Own Business with Juice

As new businesses come to Oconee County, Debbie McCaleb, a lifelong
resident, watched as her small town changed rapidly. She never
thought she'd see the day a Wal-Mart would move to the county,
nor did she think she would bring a business to the county herself.
It
all began one evening when she received a call from her cousin,
Tracy Broach of Monroe, with whom McCaleb spent her childhood.
''She
told me about an incredible natural product, and (wondered) if
I was interested in making some extra income. The funny thing
about it is that when we were 10 or 11 years old, we'd promised
each other we'd go into business together. I told her 'Sure, I'll
try the product.' Little did I know the impact TAHITIAN NONI®
Juice would make and the awesome results it was going to have
on me and my family,'' McCaleb said.
McCaleb
goes on to say, ''I admit consistency is one of the key ingredients.
I am determined to pique someone's interest about the opportunity
daily. You must keep telling your story. (My passions) in life
are (my) family and Christian faith.''
McCaleb
describes herself as a goal-oriented person.
''You
must have daily, weekly, and monthly goals,'' she said.
McCaleb
also is determined to continue to build a list of clients. When
she first began selling TAHITIAN NONI Juice recently, she sat
down and made a list of everyone she'd ever known, and looked
up all of their phone numbers. Then, each day, between 7:30 and
8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday she began calling each person,
even people she had not spoken with in years, and described the
product to them.
''After
about three days of drinking the Noni juice, I experienced extraordinary
energy. After about two weeks, I noticed my headaches and allergies
were helped,'' said McCaleb, who attends Elder Road Baptist Church.
After
her initial calls, she began asking people in grocery stores,
in restaurant drive throughs and even in movie theaters if they'd
like to buy the juice.
''We
have the world at our fingertips and everyone needs TAHITIAN NONI
Juice. Also, I never look at anyone as a stranger - only a friend
I've never met,'' she said.
Before
McCaleb went into business for herself, she worked in the Oconee
and Morgan county governments for 17 years.
''I
put in my resignation to be a home schooler to my (two) children,''
McCaleb said. She finds herself learning from her children's lessons
daily just as much as they learn, and as she and one child were
going over a lesson on World War II, she found a quote by Franklin
D. Roosevelt that pertained, not only to her business, but also
to her life.
''There
are many ways of going forward, but only one way of standing still,''
she quoted Roosevelt.
This
inspirational quote helps motivate her daily.
Her
husband, Chuck, of 17 years works with Buffet Pizza.
On
Sept. 1, a TAHITIAN NONI Cafe will open in Atlanta, and McCaleb
hopes to see one open up in the Athens area in the near future.
''
Athens would be the perfect place for a cafe,'' she said.
The
company she is a distributor for also produces other products
such as shampoo, conditioners and hand lotion, all of which are
available through McCaleb. Each bottle of juice is $45.
