don't take what I am about to say as gospel, but more as an indication
of things you can check out further.
I
am not a medical person, however my understanding is that raised
liver enzymes can be an indication that liver cells are being
damaged. This is why people with a 'sluggush' liver never get
abnormal test results because the cells themselves are not damaged
in that situation. However in diseases like hepatitis cells are
damaged and this results in a change in enzyme levels.
I
don't know if there are other reasons for enzyme levels to change.
My
suggestion is that you get some advice from a medical doctor about
what the medical view on your raised enzymes means. I am surprised
that the research doctor hasn't told you already. If this is your
own GP then I'd suggest going to another doctor for a second opinion.
There can be pressures on medical studies participants and doctors
and it's be good to get a totally independant opinion.
In
terms of the things you have been doing in the last 3 months -
if it were me I would look at the things most likely to cause
side effects first (the study drug; the anti-depressant and coming
off it; alcohol consumption).
I'd
particularly be looking at the side effect and contraindication
lists for both of the drugs you have been taking. You can find
this information online usually by searching by brand name +"side
effects". Look for drug interactions, and interactions with
alcohol.
I'd
also look at the supplements you are taking, particularly if they
are in capsules. There is a thread here talking about the problems
with capsules and side effects.
Lecithin
and chlorophyl as a food (not in capsules or pills) don't strike
me as being particularly problematic unless they have other ingredients
added. However I haven't used either of them longterm, so am not
totally sure.
The
food changes might affect liver function* (but as mentioned earlier
that won't show up in a liver function test despite the name),
but I doubt that they would damage liver cells. (resulting in
raised enzymes).
*eg
if you liver is a bit slow then adding dairy and possibly coconut
might mean your liver struggles a bit to keep up with increased
fat intake - you might feel ill after eating certain foods. A
healthful response to that is to support the liver and digestion
through herbs like dandelion (lots on the forum about that).
Something
that may help you make sense of all the information you are having
to deal with is the Six Steps of Healing. It's a system for understanding
how different remedies assist and affect us. See here and here.
Steps
0-3 build health (and often resolve problems). Steps 4-6 can resolve
problems, and also will damage health on some level at the same
time.
