I am rather new here and mostly participate in the bacterial vaginosis
thread, which is how I discovered this sight. I have spent a lot
of time looking around other forums and reading other articles and
am slowly learning about listening to my body and using natural
products as opposed to manufactured ones. (I say this becase I am
worried when I mention all the things I am taking, people will freak
out and lecture me, which is fine, but I wanted you to know I am
slowly moving in that direction and learning to make infusions.)
Anyway,
three months ago I decided to participate in a medical study for
urinary incontinence and began taking duloxetine, the study drug.
Duloxetine is already used as an anti-depressant and now they
are studying its use for incontinence. When I started the study,
they tested my liver enzymes. Now three months later, my liver
enzumes have doubled and I don't know anything about this topic,
but I have made a lot of dietary and medicinal changes in those
three months and I was wondering if any of these would be a red
flag for elevating liver enzymes. (Is an elevation of enzymes
always bad?)
-I
know I drink too much, but I do not drink more than I did three
months ago.
-I have started using coconut oil and milk A LOT. I cook in coconut
oil and use it for a spread and use coconut milk in coffee and
in drinks.
-I have started drinking a lot of unsweetened cranberry juice.
-I have started using Stevia as a sweetener.
-I started taking a chlorophyl supplement (in an attempt to help
the BV).
-I started taking a lecithen supplement (to help with nervousness
and restless legs).
-I have re-included animal fats in my diet like butter and cream
and eggs that I used to avoid.
-I have started avoiding refined carbs.
-I stopped using my antidepressant, Lexpro, two weeks ago.
I
know that is a lot of changes in a short amount of time, so that
is why I am s overwhelmed and confused trying to figure this out.
I don't think I trust myself (or maybe the technique) enough to
do self testing. Do any of these things jump out at anyone as
perhaps affecting my liver enzymes?
